Where am I now? Sam Armstrong

When I initially contacted Jess, I was a mature university student eager to transition into a conservation career. Being mentored by Jess in this competitive, male-dominated industry was a genuinely transformative experience. She guided me in connecting with the right individuals and navigating the unique challenges of the conservation sector. While career paths in this field vary, the journey can often seem overwhelming. Jess offered invaluable advice and assistance in preparing for job opportunities.

Moreover, she introduced me to remarkable women in conservation, expanding my professional network. Thanks to my involvement with Jungle Sistas, I have established a fulfilling career in conservation, involving tasks such as addressing invasive species, collaborating with Indigenous groups, and securing a position in Asia today. Here, I concentrate on protected areas and tackle crucial issues like human-wildlife conflict and supporting rangers in safeguarding remarkable species like elephants, sharks, and tigers, among others! I will always be thankful to Jungle Sistas and am delighted to still have Jess in my life after all these years.
